Children & young people
Counselling for children and teenagers
When your child is struggling, it can be hard to know where to turn. Our specialist counsellors work gently with children and young people with anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, bereavement and more.
A guide for parents
How it works: we usually start with a conversation with you as a parent or carer, then sessions with your child at a pace that suits them. Sessions are 50 minutes, in a calm, private room at House Seven, Tynemouth or The Lamp House, Jesmond.
Confidentiality: children need a safe space to talk. Counsellors keep what they share private, except where there is a safeguarding concern, and will agree with you how you'll be kept involved.
Common reasons families get in touch: worry and anxiety, low mood, friendship or school difficulties, bereavement, changes at home, self-esteem and eating concerns.
Not sure who's right?
Tell us a little about your child and we'll match you with the right counsellor.
