Sophie Lawler
Hello, I’m Sophie and I offer counselling on Wednesdays (daytime/evening), Thursdays (daytime/evening) and Fridays (mornings).
I offer a warm space for adults experiencing anxiety, overthinking, people pleasing, low self-esteem, or feeling stuck in life. Together we can explore and untangle patterns, sit with emotions, challenge unhelpful thinking, and find ways forward that feel more manageable.
My style is gentle and thoughtful. I enjoy using a mix of exploratory reflection, and bringing in theory, education and creative interventions. I personally find structure and visuals helpful in therapy, particularly for anxiety and overthinking. My clients have described me as kind, warm, easy to talk to, and non-judgemental.
About me:
I qualified from the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy and have worked in the charity and healthcare sectors with people of all ages, from all walks of life. I have a special interest in working with people pleasing, low self-esteem, and social anxiety.
Before retraining as a counsellor I worked in HR in Higher Education and supported people with challenges including stress, disputes, conflict mediation, workplace adjustments, and confidence coaching. I have a very good awareness of how mental health can manifest in the workplace.
I offer a free 20 minute introductory phonecall if you would like to have a conversation before deciding whether to go ahead with an in-person assessment session.
