
Dr Emily Thompson
Dr Emily Thompson is an experienced Clinical Psychologist and co-founder of The Kind Mind. Emily has worked in the NHS for over 20 years, alongside 8 years experience in private practice, offering therapy for a range of emotional, behavioural, and mental health difficulties.
Emily specialises in working with parents, children and young people, and families, including those with additional needs. Emily uses a number of different therapeutic models and approaches depending on each person’s presenting difficulties, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP; Level 1 and 2 trained), behavioural therapies e.g. Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), mindfulness, compassion-focused therapy, systemic approaches, attachment-focused interventions, adapted Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed approaches.
Emily also runs workshops for Nurseries, Schools, and parents/carers, as well as ‘Wellbeing in the workplace’ workshops for local and national businesses.
